Position Summary

 

The Kids’ Education Revolution Associate plays a vital role in driving Kids Education Revolution’s research and partnership efforts. As a KER Associate, you will be in charge of documenting and amplifying the stories of inspirational student leaders by running a Learning Loop project in an attempt to learn from their journeys. You will also be responsible for identifying and forming partnerships with inspiring organizations and innovations from around the world who are driving a reimagined education through their work. Additionally, you will play a key role in planning and executing KER’s annual space – KER Week! This is an exciting role for someone who enjoys storytelling, research and working with a diverse group of people from around the world.

Team Overview

 

Kids Education Revolution is a project that sits under the Innovation Cell at Teach For India. It was established in 2017 with the pursuit of reimagining education WITH children, not just within TFI's program and classrooms, but also beyond TFI to explore the possibility of scaling principles that challenge the traditional education system. KER aims to learn and spread out constantly evolving & growing understanding of an excellent education. 

The KER National team’s areas of work are:

  1. Understanding Excellent Education: Evolving and deepening our understanding of holistic education and student leadership
  2. Finding Innovations (an innovation can be a practice, platform, project, or person): Sourcing innovations to build student leadership
  3. Spreading and Sparking Innovations in a way that is user-friendly, experiential and moves to action: 
  • Creating spaces (virtual and in-person) for awareness, learning and action around the 3 KER principles (safe space for voice, kids and educators as partners, kids as changemakers) and 8 Cs (critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, communication, compassion, courage, curiosity and consciousness)
  • Building a movement of revolutionaries who embody and spread the 3 KER principles and 8 Cs

Responsibilities

 

Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

KER Student Learning Loop

  • Identify, capture and learn from the strongest student leaders across the world to deepen our understanding of student leadership and excellent education
  • Facilitate spaces for diverse individuals - students and educators within and beyond Teach for India to dialogue about what enables leadership in students
  • Design a report that captures our learnings from the stories and discussions through the year

Finding Innovations

  • Identify and learn from innovations in education across the world
  • Cultivate relations and partner with the innovations to amplify their work in our network

KERx Initiatives

  • Identify and partner with diverse schools to integrate the 3 KER principles and 8Cs into classrooms and school structures 
  • Co-design resources and tools that would help build the 3 KER principles and 8Cs into classrooms, schools and communities.

KER Week

  • Design and execute KER Week - a week long experience that brings together hundreds of students and educators to listen and learn from each other towards a reimagined education

Additional Responsibilities

Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • To budget time for organisational level activities and events 
  • To support team members in meeting their goals
  • Data and knowledge management for respective projects
  • Collaborating with other verticals to co-create spaces

 

 

 

 

Minimum Qualifications, Skills and Competencies

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in any field
  • Minimum 2 years of work experience in education
  • Excellent communication skills - written and verbal 
  • Ability to build partnerships, influence people and collaborate towards a larger purpose 
  • Ability to work in an unstructured environment and develop strategy independently, while constantly evaluating the effectiveness of their decision making 
  • Ability to design and facilitate powerful learning experiences
  • Orientation towards innovation (openness, risk-taking, embracing failure) and scale (strategic thinking, identification of key levers, making bets)
  • Strong organizational Skills - Time Management, Project Management, Planning, and Execution skills
  • Strong work ethic, resilience, and continuous learning
  • Commitment to Teach For India’s core values and vision
