About us
Ayang Trust is a social purpose organization working towards building the ecosystem for sustainable self 
empowered communities in Northeast India through interventions in quality education and women’s 
entrepreneurship.
At the heart of the organization is The Hummingbird School started in January 2017 to provide a 
contextual and holistic education to the children of Majuli, set up completely in partnership with the 
local community. The formal establishment of Ayang thus was preceded by The Hummingbird School. 
Ayang grew out of the various and urgent needs of the people of Majuli and was registered under the 
Indian Trust Act of 1882 in November 2017.
The founding team of the organization comes with qualifications and experience in diverse professional 
fields - Engineering, Education, and Development from universities like IIT KGP, Azim Premji University 
and BITS. The team is ably guided through mentorship from a veteran advisory council including ex-CEO 
of Pratham and Give India, ex-CEO Axis Bank Foundation, CEO Piramal Foundation, and seasoned 
corporate leaders of Cargill, Unilever etc.
The opportunity
Ayang Trust is looking for motivated people who wish to work with tribal community to explore 
his/her/their opportunities in the area of livelihood in long term. Program Associate - Livelihood will 
closely work with SHG for promotion of livelihood activity to achieve the goal of community resilience 
building.
Key Responsibilities
 Leading the ground team at the district level involved in farm and non-farm based livelihood 
promotion 
 Build and promote farmer producer organisation 
 Capacity building of FPO - value addition, financial literacy, enhancing production and business 
 Conducting market research for building access to diverse market for the FPO
 Backward and forward linkages for the FPO – aggregation systems, and market linkages 
 Coordinate research and, identify and collaborate with potential training partners for the 
identified trade
 Community visits to strengthen organisation’s collaboration with the community and also to 
understand their needs and evaluate impact of the interventions
 Assist Program Director in program architecture
 Develop project related communication materials such as leaflets, brochures, newsletter, and 
project reports
 Develop and manage all market outlets’ social media handles and train team members to contribute productively

 have a 2 wheeler license or are willing to learn and get one.
 have the communication skills and acumen to work in a multicultural environment
 possess a strong work ethic

Compensation:
 The monetary remuneration would be commensurate with experience and qualifications, just
and on par with nonprofit salaries in Northeast India. The decision range shall be CTC 4.5L to 5L 
per annum.
