Job Description
Introduction:
Magic Bus India Foundation (MB) is a nonprofit organisation working in the space of life skills education and livelihood for young people between the age group of 12 – 24 years. MB has been working with adolescents and youth from disadvantaged communities across India for the last 25 years, facilitating their development into young adults with improved aspiration, agency and choice. MB uses an activity-based life skills curriculum for the personal and social development of young people, enabling them to complete education and be prepared for life and work challenges, delay age at marriage and attain sustainable livelihood.
Magic Bus and Niti Aayog are collaborating with the education departments of four states - Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh - to introduce teacher-led life skills education in all middle and secondary schools across 31 Blocks under ABP. These blocks are selected based on the existing presence of Magic Bus and recommendations by the Niti Aayog team. Magic Bus India Foundation will provide technical support to the department in effectively executing the program. This support includes the development of training materials and curriculum for life skills, establishing a group of expert trainers, enhancing the capacities of teachers, support in assessments and providing ongoing guidance and supervision through the existing government system.
Roles of JSP Fellow at ABP:
1.
Government engagement and systems integration:
a.
Will be the bridge between the State, District, Block & MB on the implementation of the Teacher-Led activity-based Life Skills Education in ABPs.
b.
Perspective building of District/Block/Cluster Officials/ABP fellows on the programmatic and monitoring front.
c.
Advocacy and networking at the District, Block, cluster and school level for effective implementation of the LSE in ABPs for the designated blocks, overcoming bottlenecks and developing a shift in knowledge, attitude and practice.
d.
Facilitating a practice and system of reporting from the Blocks to Districts and the State, integrating Life Skills implementation in schools in the review processes at the blocks/districts. Will be supporting the ABP fellows or block officials appointed for the Niti Aayog programme in the Department through proper feeding of data. Provide support in the analysis of data and help in solutions for the challenges through coordination.
e.
Supporting the blocks to identify good/best practices from the blocks where Life Skills implementation is happening at schools.
f.
Working with government partners to track the ABP indicators committed to the programme.
2. Programmatic:
a.
Attend training at State, District and Blocks to strengthen the facilitation efforts of Master Trainers (MT), basis observation during MT training, teacher training & discussion to help them roll out the training effectively.
b.
Will be rendering supportive supervision and mentoring to teachers, cluster, block and district officials for rolling out the agreed upon modules of Activity-based Life Skills Education in schools.
c.
Will be responsible for identifying schools and teachers whose efforts can be showcased as Best Practices in the Blocks/District and working with them further to strengthen them and their practices.
d.

e.
Support in undertaking annual assessment or baseline assessment at the blocks and co-ordinate with the Department of Education and MB impact team.
3. Operational:
a.
Render support to the Project Lead on government permission, approval, requests, attending meetings, data support, planning and review, reporting and any other related support.
b.
Timely submission of plans, expenditures and timely submission of quarterly reports to the reporting manager and government officials at the blocks/ district.
Responsibilities:
1.
Ensuring rapport and coordination with the District, Block, cluster and school authorities for effective implementation of the program in one’s designated blocks.
2.
Ensuring completion of all agreed-upon activities with the Department as per the implementation plan agreed with the government.
3.
Participating in training activities including master trainers training and co-facilitating teacher training with master trainers.
4.
Providing handholding & mentoring support to identified teachers and MTs in the blocks/district.
5.
Undertaking government liaison activities at cluster, block and district levels.
6.
Coordinating regularly with the block/district education office or ABP fellows towards ensuring regular monitoring, reporting and review of the program.
7.
Initiate the process for smooth coordination and communication concerning the holistic development component of the project with the school authorities including strengthening community engagement activities (SMCs, Bal Sabhas, Women’s Collective, etc).
8.
Documentation of good practices in the designated districts for showcasing best practices from the blocks on LSE implementation in schools.
9.
Data analysis and engagement with the Government to overcome the areas of gaps collaboratively.
10.
Keeping oneself updated on all the developments in safety rules, regulation of child rights and protection and ensuring its integration into programmes.
11.
Facilitate/organise/participate in events, and visits as required.

Report on monthly targeted monitoring visits in internal applications or government portals
