About the organization Jan Sahas, established in the year 2000, is a not-for-profit grassroots organization committed to promoting the development and protect the rights of socially excluded communities with a special focus on girls and women through eradication of all forms of bondage including manual scavenging and caste-based prostitution; empowerment of adolescent girls and women to end violence and gender justice, skill development for dignified livelihoods and social entrepreneurship; legal aid for access to justice and reform in the criminal justice system; land and agriculture development; develop barefoot lawyers to build victim or survivors as leader and empowerment of communities through capacity and organization building. About Soulscale
Soulscale Consulting Private Limited is an offshoot consulting wing of Jan Sahas which has been working for the past 20 years on social entitlements of Migrant Labour and Prevention of Violence against Women. Soulscale is responsible for managing the Grants provided by various sister concerns incubated by Jan Sahas.

About Grant Management Vertical
One of the Major initiatives of Jan Sahas is Migrant Resilience Collaborative (MRC). MRC is being implemented in 100 districts of India. As part of the Governance Strategy, some of the districts are being managed by some of our implementing Partners in India (24 in total). Apart from this, MRC is also being extended to some other countries in South East Asia. 

The Grant Management Vertical is expected to manage Grants provided to the implementing Partners and ensure compliance with the Grant Management mechanisms. 

Key responsibilities and KPIs
The following responsibilities will be driven by the Head, and supported by the Program Managers. Managers are expected to assist in thought partnership as well as drive the execution. The major aspects of the role of the Managers are:

Operational Management: Direct role
Act as the lead advisor to the Associate Director- Finance on grants management and compliance for implementing Partners
Lead on the design of effective grants programs, selection of appropriate grants mechanisms, the overall grants management process, and implementation.
Conduct Due Diligence of potential Partners
Conduct Project Financial Audits and reviews to ensure compliance with Grant Management process and Grant MOUs
Design adequate processes and controls for the grants program in the form of Standardized SOP
Develop a Grant Management System with the help of Technology
Oversee grant-making processes and undertake Capacity Building of the Team to ensure compliance with Grant Management SOPs.
Review grant packages including budget submissions to ensure completeness, alignment to project and grant objectives, and adherence to applicable organization policies.

Foster effective communication and collaboration between technical teams and other project units (M&E, finance, operations, communications, etc.) to ensure partners are provided with the necessary level of project support to achieve grant objectives.
Ensure monitoring systems are in place to ensure performance standards and compliance requirements are met;
Review work products created by and mentor junior staff;
Other responsibilities as required by supervisor.


Core skills / ideal qualification and experience

We’re looking for individuals passionate about leveraging their skill sets to maximize Jan Sahas’ ability to create an impact for millions of vulnerable Indians. We are in search of people who possess a strong execution bias and are critical thinkers with a high degree of resilience.

Prior management experience of 5 years in the specific field of Grant Management 
Overall Experience of 5-7 Years working in the Non-Profit sector
Experience in working with and knowledge of the challenges and opportunities for grassroots organizations in India
Enthusiastic, self-starter, ready to roll up your sleeves and solve problems
Keen to experiment and open to learning from failure, iterating on program design and delivery
A strong sense of appreciation for challenges facing excluded and low-income communities in India. 
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English. Fluent in Hindi, and able to deliver workshops in Hindi as needed. Other language skills are a plus.
