The Jijivisha Fellow (Slam Out Loud) will serve as a full-time arts-based Social Emotional Learning (SEL) facilitator placed in affordable private schools, working directly with children in grades 5–8. The role focuses on leveraging visual and performance arts to build creative confidence, emotional well-being, and safe learning spaces while collaborating with parents, teachers, and communities to enable holistic child development

Responsibilities and Duties

• Design and facilitate arts-based SEL lesson plans for grades 5–8
• Conduct classroom sessions integrating visual and performance art forms
• Assess student progress and adapt lesson plans using data insights
• Organize art melas, open mics, nukkad nataks, and community showcases
• Build strong relationships with students, parents, teachers, and school leadership
• Conduct home and community visits to understand student contexts
• Facilitate parent workshops on socio-emotional learning
• Identify community-level barriers to child development and co-create solutions through arts
• Enable teacher well-being circles and collaborative best-practice spaces
• Work Monday to Saturday as a full-time fellow in Bengaluru, Delhi, Mumbai, or Pune

Required Qualifications, Skills and Experience

• Graduate from any background (Undergraduates must complete coursework as specified)
• Strong exposure to at least one visual or performance art form
• Understanding of socio-emotional learning (SEL) and/or child psychology
• Prior volunteering, facilitation, or teaching experience in arts and education (preferred)
• Excellent facilitation and classroom management skills
• Strong relationship-building and emotional sensitivity
• Highly organized and self-motivated
• Proficiency in English and relevant regional language (Hindi / Marathi / Kannada as applicable)
• Working knowledge of Google Suite, MS Office, and Slack
