Program Summary – SAKHI Utpadan Samiti Sakhi, a flagship CSR initiative of Hindustan Zinc (Vedanta Group), empowers rural women in Rajasthan and Uttarakhand through sustainable livelihoods. Since 2016, it has mobilized thousands into Self Help Groups (SHGs), fostering entrepreneurship and economic participation. Established in 2018 as an ISO 9001-certified enterprise, Sakhi Utpadan Samiti offers over 200 textile and 70+ food products through a growing network of 250 retail stores. Through its brands—heartswithfingers, DaiChi, and Upaya Sakhi—it connects women artisans directly to markets, enabling consumers to make responsible purchases that benefit the makers. Committed to inclusivity, entrepreneurship, and sustainability, Sakhi strengthens rural value chains and promotes economic independence and dignity for women in its communities.

Position Summary: The Modern Trade Executive will be responsible for driving sales, visibility, and market share for SAKHI’s range of pickles, spices, and pulses across leading modern trade retail chains including Smart Bazaar, Modern Bazaar, DMart, and V-Mart. This role will focus on developing strategic partnerships with retail partners, executing joint business plans, ensuring efficient supply and merchandising, and driving strong in-store brand visibility. The position is pivotal in expanding the reach of SAKHI Utpadan Samiti, a women-led micro enterprise under Hindustan Zinc’s CSR initiative, enabling the products crafted by rural women entrepreneurs to access mainstream retail markets.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Manage end-to-end relationships with modern trade partners including sales, merchandising, supply, and promotion planning.

2. Develop and execute annual and quarterly business plans with key retailers to achieve sales and visibility targets.

3. Ensure timely listing of products, planograms, promotions, and in-store activations.

4. Negotiate margins, visibility budgets, and promotional tie-ups with buyers and category managers.

5. Coordinate with supply chain to ensure on-time replenishment and zero stock-outs at store level.

6. Track competitor activities, pricing, and placement to refine market strategies.

7. Conduct regular store visits to monitor product display, inventory, and customer engagement.

8. Implement category-specific promotional campaigns to drive sales velocity and brand awareness.

Strategic Partner Management:

1. Build and strengthen relationships with key retail partners — Smart Bazaar, Modern Bazaar, D-Mart, V-Mart, and other organized retail chains. 

2. Coordinate with retail buyers and category teams for product listing, promotional participation, and shelf-space negotiation.

3.  Collaborate with in-store teams and promoters to ensure compliance with merchandising and visibility standards.

4.  Analyze sales data and footfall metrics to recommend assortment and pricing strategies for each partner.

5. Drive joint marketing initiatives and seasonal campaigns to increase brand recall and sell-through.

Cross-Functional Collaboration 

1.Work closely with Marketing to align trade marketing campaigns and product communication for modern trade audiences. 

2. Partner with Supply Chain and Operations to manage inventory flow, packaging requirements, and replenishment schedules.

3. Coordinate with Finance for billing, reconciliation, and credit management.

4. Liaise with Production Teams and women entrepreneurs to align product availability and new product development with retail demand.

Reporting & Performance Tracking

1. Track and report sales performance, SKU productivity, promotional ROI, and store-level metrics.

2.  Prepare and present monthly business review (MBR) reports for management.

3. Maintain dashboards for visibility spend, margin analysis, and volume growth by channel.

4.  Analyze consumer trends and feedback to support product innovation and brand positioning.

Qualifications:

1.  Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or Retail Management.

2. Certification or training in Trade Marketing or Sales Strategy preferred.

Experience:

1. 3–6 years of experience in Modern Trade / Key Account Management within FMCG or food categories.

2.  Prior experience managing accounts like Smart Bazaar, D-Mart, V-Mart, Modern Bazaar, or similar chains is strongly preferred.

3. Exposure to social enterprise brands or community-based product portfolios will be an advantage. Skills & Competencies:

4. Strong understanding of modern trade operations, category management, and retail dynamics.

5.  Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills. 

6. Proficiency in sales analytics, Excel, and reporting dashboards.

7. Ability to manage multiple accounts and projects with high attention to detail.

8. Strong problem-solving and data interpretation skills.

9. Collaborative mindset with a passion for social impact, women’s entrepreneurship, and inclusive market growth.

Compensation: The salary range for this position is commensurate to industry standards and will be determined based upon experience set of the candidate and the HR policies of the organization.
