PROGRAMME SPECIALIST (LIVELIHOOD EXTENSION)

Job Description

Develop and implement livelihood strategies for agriculture, livestock, and allied sectors.| Conduct assessments to identify opportunities and prepare work plans and budgets.| Design and deliver training modules for SHGs, producer groups, and field teams.| Promote climate-resilient farming, natural farming, soil testing, and bio-resource models.| Facilitate credit linkages, market access, and adoption of improved technologies.| Guide field implementation through regular visits, mentoring, and demonstration farms.| Establish farmer field schools, vegetable clusters, and solar irrigation models.| Document case studies, success stories, and best practices.| Monitor project outcomes, track indicators, and prepare donor and management reports.| Build partnerships with government, financial institutions, and market players for convergence and scaling of livelihood initiatives.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • The Programme Specialist will design, implement, and monitor sustainable livelihood interventions focusing on agriculture, livestock, micro-enterprise, and community-based organizations.
  • The role will emphasize income generation, climate-resilient practices, market linkages, and capacity building of SHGs, producer groups, and cooperatives.

Required Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Postgraduate in Rural Development, Agriculture, Livelihoods, Social Work, or related fields.
  • 2–3 years of experience in livelihood promotion, rural development, SHG/producer groups, value chain development, or micro-enterprise.
  • Experience in training, capacity building, agri-extension, and participatory approaches.
  • Strong knowledge of marketing, FPOs, CBO monitoring, and evaluation.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and digital tools for data collection and reporting.
  • Fluency in English and Hindi (local language preferred).
