Overview:

A leading social impact organization is seeking a dynamic finance professional to join its team during a pivotal stage of growth. As the first dedicated finance hire, you will be responsible for building the finance function from scratch. This role goes beyond basic accounting; you will shape how financial data supports strategic decision-making and enhances program effectiveness.

 

Key Responsibilities 

 

1. Financial Control and Accounting

  • Manage end-to-end accounting operations and maintain strong internal controls. 
  • Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of all financial records. 
  • Improve existing processes and evaluate new financial systems. 

2. Compliance & Audit

  • Oversee regulatory and statutory compliance, including 12A/80G, TDS, GST, CSR Acts, and FCRA.
  • Manage all tax filings and ensure the organization is always audit-ready.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors.

3. Planing, Reporting and MIS 

  • Develop comprehensive MIS reports and dashboards to track organizational performance.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting while providing insights on budget vs. actuals.
  • Enable better resource allocation and long-term financial planning.

4. Grant & Program Support

  • Strengthen financial visibility across various programs and grants.
  • Track fund utilization and assist in the due diligence of partner organizations.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with program and leadership teams.

Qualifications and Requirements:

 

  • Experience: 4–6 years of experience in finance. 
  • Sector Knowledge: Prior experience in the NGO, social sector, or a Corporate Foundation is required.
  • Education: BCom or a similar degree; a CA or MBA qualification is considered a plus.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Excel and core accounting/compliance.

    • Deep understanding of Indian regulations and CSR/NGO-specific compliances.
  • Soft Skills: A "hands-on" operator with a systems-oriented mindset.

    • High attention to detail and the ability to thrive in an unstructured, growing environment.
